Welcome to AmFIRST Real Estate Investment Trust ("Am FIRST")
AmFIRST is the first Malaysian REIT to be managed by a professional REIT manager, managed by Am ARA REIT Managers Sdn Bhd ("Am ARA"), a joint-venture between AmInvestment Group Berhad ("AIGB") and ARA Asset Management (Malaysia) Limited ("ARA"). Am ARA was incorporated on 20 April 2006 and is 70% owned by AIGB and 30% by ARA.
AIGB is the largest investment banking group in Malaysia with total assets of RM22.3 billion and shareholder's funds of RM2.3 billion as at 31 March 2007. The bulk of the assets comprise of treasury assets, primarily fixed income securities held for trading and investments. The listing of AIGB in May 2005 marked the culmination of the AmBank Group's efforts in reorganizing its investment banking, broking and funds management operations into a well-defined, client-focused banking group.
ARA Asset Management (Malaysia) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Singapore-based ARA Asset Management Limited ("ARA Group"), an affiliate of the Cheung Kong Group. ARA Group is the first real estate fund management company to be listed on the Singapore Exchange. ARA has an established track record with total assets under management of S$10.4 billion as at 31 March 2008. The Group currently manages over 8 million sq ft of real estate space via Fortune REIT, Suntec REIT, Prosperity REIT and AmFIRST.
