Foreign Workers Remittance (FWR)
   

What is Foreign Workers Remittance (FWR)?
FWR is a service specially designed for foreign workers who are working in Malaysia to transfer funds back to their homeland.

Where is it available?
FWR is available at all AmBank/AmIslamic branches. Find the AmBank/AmIslamic branch nearest to you here

Who is AmBank’s agent bank in Indonesia?
Bank Central Asia is AmBank’s agent bank. BCA is currently the 2nd largest bank in Indonesia. BCA has 800 branches & 4,000 ATMs.

How many types of currencies are available under this service?
Currently, only IDR (Indonesia Rupiah) is available for this FWR service.

Who is eligible to apply this service?
There are 2 categories of applicants:
-
i) Indonesian foreign workers
ii) Employers of the Indonesian foreign workers i.e. remitting funds on behalf of their employees. This is applicable only for individual employers.

Who can receive FWR transaction in Indonesia?
The beneficiary must be an individual.

How long it will take to transfer funds to beneficiary’s account?
i) If beneficiary is an accountholder with our agent bank (BCA), it will be within 2 or 3 working days.
ii) If beneficiary is not an accountholder with BCA, it may take up to 7 working days.

What are the documents required to apply for the FWR?
i) Photocopies of both the applicant and beneficiary’s Kartu Tanda Pengenalan (KTP) will be required.
ii) If possible, kindly bring a copy of the beneficiary’s statement of account or copy of passbook (the page that displays beneficiary’s name and account number). This is to prevent unnecessary errors in crediting the funds to the receiving account.

Can the transaction be cancelled?
No, the transaction cannot be cancelled

What are the possible reasons for a transaction to be rejected?
Agent bank (BCA) will reject the transaction due to: -
i) Wrong account number at BCA or other Banks in Indonesia.
ii) Payment to a deceased account holder or closed account
iii) Payment (to be paid over the counter) uncollected by beneficiary after 21 days (from receipt date by BCA); or
iv) Account cannot be credited due to other reasons
There will be a RM5/- fee charged for any rejected transaction.

How will my refund be issued?
Branch staff will contact the applicant (kindly ensure the applicants fill in the contact no in the FWR form) to collect the rejected fund. The amount to be refunded to applicant will be lesser than the original fund remitted due to:
i) IDR rates fluctuation,
ii) Cancellation fees of RM5/-.
If the applicant requests to resend the same, RM15/- will be charged to them and it will be treated as a new/fresh application.
